Herein lie speculation, headcanon, and shameless wish fulfillment, all of the fannish kind, for Miraculous Ladybug. Sticking the musing under a cut. And my screenreader really does all but split a certain name into three, and I love it, so. The double vowel thing is a Trek reference.

"Wo jie de--I, I think something happened--I--" she grasps the table's edge in both hands and holds on, looks up dazedly through eyes gone half-lidded with exhaustion or shock or both, and lets her gaze track rightward to the shoulder to which her wet-eyed kwami is still clinging. "Émilie," she says, and it sounds like a plea. "J'suis Émilie. Et Duusu. Mon ami Duusu." That second, repeated name is almost, almost split into three syllables, lyrical, lower-higher-lower, as if, should the frame of reference be there, there's a Capellan double vowel involved just after the leading consonant.

Mine splits it into three syllables, too. XD

PS: My favorite screen reader mess is when people type TL;DR. Simply because I had a screen reader once which pronounced it as TL doctor.

Émilie is a gorgeous name. :)
Yes, that was NVDA. And yes I'm using Voiceover. I think, if I'm not wrong, in the latest version, at least in iOS, the Mandarin comes out in voice-over's Mandarin voice.
